Cheri Brubaker Announces Candidacy for Lincoln County Commissioner

Lincoln County, OR — Cheri Brubaker, a former local journalist and congressional field representative, announced today that she is running for Lincoln County Commissioner, pledging to bring steady, thoughtful, and cooperative leadership to the difficult decisions facing the county.

“I’m running because I believe I can help fix the issues we’re facing in Lincoln County,” said Brubaker, “I know the people in this community and I know how to get things done.

Brubaker has spent the past three years as the North and Central Coast Field Representative for Congresswoman Val Hoyle, helping people connect with resources and navigate government services. She said this experience reinforced her belief that effective leadership begins with listening.

Prior to her work as a congressional staffer, Brubaker was news director at local radio stations, covering Lincoln County government and community issues. “The privilege of hosting Hotline and preparing daily news broadcasts gave me a deep understanding of how decisions are made by elected officials and how that impacts residents’ daily lives,” Brubaker said. Her Lincoln County news career also includes work as a local government and community reporter at the Newport News-Times and as a freelancer for other local news outlets.

Brubaker’s top priority as commissioner is fostering cooperative leadership to help the county addressbudget challenges, maintain essential services, and to rebuild and strengthen public trust.

“My work as a teacher early in my career shaped my belief in meeting people where they are, andunderstanding different perspectives. We all want a strong future and a place where everyone feels heard. This is my goal.” said Brubaker.

“Our community is strongest when we listen to one another, even when we don’t agree,” she said. “While we may not see every issue the same way, we have far more in common than our differences.”
